The Fishbowl. With a side of booze. And a tasty burger. And hair for dessert.

The first annual Casper Rugby Tournament has finally come. And unfortunately gone. Excellent turn-out from ruggers from across the region as we were able to host a pre-tournament exhibition match between Casper and Rapid City, with a three random team round robin immediately following.

From a Chupacabras perspective (well, me anyway), certainly mixed reviews. We received great support from the community in the form of spectators, our food trucks Little Shop of Burgers and Carnivore Rehab, and of course our booze sponsor Paradise Liquors. It validated our belief that this could definitely be a feasible yearly event, and even on a bigger scale. It was also good to see a lot of positives on the field for some of our Chupacabras: Tattoo-Face scoring his first rugby try (and his Zulu Warrior at the social). Amanda single-handedly sparking local interest in a potential women's team by playing well and hanging tough against a bunch of grown ass men. Duck Commander's light turning on in his first live rugby with respect to rucking and jackaling. Josh, who had only been to one practice beforehand not backing down from the experience. John putting a broken body on the line and figuring out that his body can and wants to play. An actual athletic trainer and another great hydration support effort from Wee-Man while he rehabs his torn bicep. And overall, we identified some things to improve on and off the field. On the not-so-good side...well, we didn't get the results we all wanted, even if we knew they were somewhat unrealistic. And several Chupas went down, some very early, with bites from the injury bug. So it goes. Thankfully nothing too serious.
And then there was a social, which video and photographic evidence has proven the existence of a boat race, the aforementioned Zulu Warrior, and several shenanigans. Thankfully, they appeared to be cheeky and fun, not evil. Several ruggers (to include some out of towners), fans, friends, families and even a Sir, well, Ma'am rather, made their way downtown for the Hairball Concert. Expensive drinks and an excellent tribute to 80s Butt Rock made for one hell of a finish to what was a great day. Even if I was the first one bit by the injury bug...
